WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS -- Greenbrier Chairman and owner Jim Justice received a very special award Thursday.
Gov. Joe Manchin gave Justice the "Distinguished West Virginian" award after The Greenbrier Classic's opening ceremony.
The award is the most prestigious Manchin can give to a citizen in West Virginia.
"Jim has done so many things unordinary," said Manchin. "He's brought this revitalization to America's Resort, The Greenbrier, but he's also put West Virginia on the map."
Manchin said no one else could have made the tournament come together so well and so quickly.
The Governor also touched on how much The Greenbrier Classic means to West Virginia.
He says what we take for granted every day, people around the country seeing for the first time.
